Helping Hand

Vision for this Ministry
To provide food hampers containing various essential items of a monthly basis to the poorest of the poor. Currently identified recipients include Sandspruit, Kingsway School, Berea Baptist Church and a Creche in Freedom Park.

Gospel tracts in various South African languages are distributed along with each food hamper. Initially 40 food hampers were being packed and distributed monthly, increasing to 150 food hampers per month at present

How this Ministry was Formed
A similar ministry in Cape Town provided the inspiration for Pastor Harold Twine and Betty Ressell, to investigate how Honeyridge Baptist Church could become involved in a scheme to reach the poorest of the poor. This prompted a core team of people to be established to co-ordinate the initiation of this ministry.

How YOU can get Involved:

  • Assisting in the purchasing and collecting of the hamper foodstuffs;
  • Assisting in the monthly packing of the food hampers;
  • Distributing of the food hampers;
  • Financially supporting the ministry (regular or once-off contributions);
  • Praying for this ministry;
  • Locating suppliers who are willing to donate foodstuffs, or supply the foodstuffs at below market-related prices.
