I recently had the great privilege of bringing the morning devotional messages at two SIM conferences in Thailand.
The first week in Phuket, led by Dave and Nikki Bremner, centred on the training of missionaries to mentor and encourage fellow missionaries. Thirty people from various countries were present.
The four devotions were on the life of Moses, giving particular attention to his walk with the Lord, and how he learned to lead others.
A number of us then went on to Chiang Mai in northern Thailand. About 150 missionaries, representing over fifty countries gathered for the first SIM Global Assembly. The five devotions centred on the theme of the Assembly; ‘Worship Christ in heart, mind, and spirit.’
Two outstanding speakers also addressed the Assembly; Dr Femi and Affi Adeleye from Nigeria (“Serving the church as we make disciples”), and Dr K and Pramila Rajendran (“Current issues affecting global mission on reaching those without Christ”).
After each session there were group times of reflection, discussion, and prayer. Translators enabled people from different language groups to hear the messages and discussions via link ups to their smart phones and other devıces.
It was a very rich learning experience for me to have time with God’s people from across the world. Nancy Writebol was with us, she featured in the news last year as one of the missionaries who contracted Ebola in Liberia, and the Lord miraculously saved her life.
I praise the Lord for daily strength and enablement by His Spirit, and for those who prayed for me. The Lord is doing absolutely amazing things in missions in so many varied ways right across the world – I wish I was thirty years younger!
Please continue to support and pray for missions and SIM.
