The Holiday Club is almost upon us, I thought I’d share a few reasons why we should support it prayerfully and actively:

We bring glory to God

God’s glory belongs to God. 1 Chronicles 29: 11, “Yours, O Lord, is the greatness, and the power, and the glory, and the majesty and the splendour, for everything in heaven and earth are Yours.” We fall short of God’s glory (Romans 3: 23) and yet we receive God’s glory through Jesus Christ (2 Corinthians 4: 6). We bring God much glory when we proclaim his Son as the Way, the Truth and the Life (John 14: 6).

We bring children to God

Children are important to Jesus. He made time especially for them. He even rebuked those who would keep the children from Him. Jesus, the Creator, was aware that children are tomorrow’s men and women. They are each important to their Creator.

So often we fail to recognise the capacity of children for real saving faith, despite the words of Jesus in Matthew 18: 6 where he speaks of “these little ones who believe in Me”. We are reluctant to receive children as members of Christ’s universal church at an early age. This has proven a wise procedure in that it may forestall premature professions on the part of those who have not had their faith tested. But we must be cautious. Children at an early age can exercise a saving faith. In the church, we should honour and nourish that faith and not be guilty of keeping children away from Jesus. Our holiday club will seek to introduce children to Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour.

We seek to introduce homes to Jesus Christ

Children have a wonderful way of sharing the truth of the gospel of Jesus Christ through the songs they sing, the memory verses they recite, the Bible stories they share, and a host of other activities. Many a home will be impacted by the activities of the children over the holiday club period and beyond.

Many parents, who would never darken the doors of our church building, will be influenced by the sense of acceptance, love and joy their children experience from the leaders and others at the holiday club. Let us pray that God will use these little ambassadors to his glory in many a home.

We will build unity in our church

To date, it has been amazing to see so many church members and attendees of all ages rally to assist in the preparation and running of the holiday club. We praise God for every person who will invest time in the kingdom of God by being involved.

As we are involved in “works of service” we will see the “body of Christ being built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.” (Ephesians 3: 12-13). The spin-offs of working together for God’s glory are immense in building unity in the body.

We will positively impact our community

The number of children living within a radius of 5 km of the church is by no means small. We have many primary schools in our area that are full to overflowing. With many parents working during the day, holiday- time becomes a nightmare in many homes in terms of keeping children gainfully occupied. Can there be any better way than involve the children in learning about the love of Jesus Christ? Are you willing to make time to join us in making an impact for God in our community?

Do pray that God will get much glory from this special week in the life of our church. May the Lord grant everybody involved safety, protection, fun, and a deep sense of his presence throughout the five days.
